Mahayag,
Zamboanga del Sur (March 28, 2018) – One
person killed in
stabbing incident transpired at
Purok 5, Barangay Daniel C Mantos of this town at about 9:50 PM on March 26,
2018.
Mahaya OIC Police Chief P/Chief Insp.
Van Froillan P. Tompong identified the victim identified as Geraldo Sugot Neri
Sr., 45, married, farmer and resident of Purok 5, Barangay Daniel C Mantos of
this town.
P/Chief Insp. Tompong said suspect
identified as Guillermo Nepomuceno Dula, 48, married, farmer and resident of
the said place stabbed the victim several times.
The victim was rushed immediately
to Mahayag Municipal Hospital for immediate medical treatment but the attending
physician Dra. Ramos pronounced victim dead on arrival, P/Chief Insp. Tompong disclosed.
Police investigation conducted also
disclosed that prior to the incident, the victim and suspect together with Roberto
Obod Bacus were having a drinking session outside the house of certain Patrico
Urot located at Purok 5, Barangay Daniel C Mantos, Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur.
OIC Police Chief added that after
their drinking session the victim along with Roberto Bacus went to the
basketball court of and having a conversation. Suddenly the suspect armed with
a bolo chased/followed the victim, without any apparent reason stabbed, and
hacked the victim hitting on the chest and left neck portion of his body. While
his companion Roberto Bacus ran toward his neighbor asking for assistance.
The suspect immediately fled
towards unknown direction after the incident.
But few hours adter of same date
the suspect was arrested by the responding PNP personnel of Mahayag MPS along
the Barangay Road of said place and confiscated from his possession and control
was one (1) bolo with scabbard, the police official said.
The motive of the incident believed
to be misunderstanding. Arrested suspect is now temporary detained at Mahayag
Municipal Detention Center, while appropriate case is now being prepared for
filing in court, Case Investigator PO2 Ariel Urot Saloma also said. (By JONG
